There is a story floating around at the moment about a child who eats a packet of crisps a day is doing the equivalent of "drinking 5 litres of oil per year".
Well I've done my own analysis...
I'm currently drinking the equivalent of 5 litres of oil myself as I have a packet of crisps most days (Doritos Chilli Heatwave). Ingredients (largest first): Corn, Vegetable oil, chilli heatwave flavouring...(the list goes on).
Cool, my body is able to make its own chilli oil and in large batches too.
What else can we make? Ah yes, I have probably had chips of half a dozen occasions this year. Does this mean that with the oil I'm "drinking", its now deep fried chips instead of oven chips?
So what if children are eating too many crisps? 20 years ago we were eating too many chips, 40 years ago we were eating too many tabs of LSD and 60 years ago we were eating too many rations. These scientists are never happy unless they are telling us food is bad. Butter is bad then good, marg was good then bad.
Wait until next year - rubbing crisps on your forehead will be positively medicinal.
