So the saga of the Exchange box continues. E10 (that's 2000 to the layabouts). Sits as follows:
OS on an 8GB
Apps on an 8GB
Transaction Logs on a 60GB
Stores on a 1.36TB
So the IS popped due to 50GB of transaction logs appearing within a 24 hour period. Normal traffic is for under 5GB of transactions per day.
So why the 10 fold increase? Does it really matter. What is important is getting the box upright and happy. A quick ntbackup to disk should trunc the logs. At that point things should improve.
"quick" is of course relative. This is a media company after all and there are no limits on most things. So 150 users, a pile of other assorted mailboxes (Sales and the like). That's about 90GB. Plus Public store. Streamed out of ntbackup to the disk containing the store (i.e. read from store, write to same volume). Fingers crossed. Then at the end of that is the backup of the TLs. That's another 50GB (all run in 10 hours yesterday afternoon!). So 140GB to be written.
Well, good job I wasn't busily doing other things today...
