Important meeting - match report

OK, so it was a day out playing golf. I was invited to a very top notch golf club for a very swanky day. Really perfect conditions - warm and dry without too much sun. The clubs were in good order with a good supply of balls. I looked the part in my usual whippet-chasing flat cap, a polo shirt and smart trousers. I hit a few dozen balls up the driving range and they went nicely. Well, mainly.

Photos on the first tee, woods together (so to speak), changed to a 3 iron and drove it perfectly down the middle of the fairway. Net par or net bogey for the first 5 holes. Playing ok.

Cue the sixth tee. As per all previous holes you need to hit over 100 yards to make fairway. I plant one dead straight down the middle but only 25 yards - straight into the rough. What looked like a reasonable lie nearly broke my pitching wedge as it got caught in the grass, my body carrying through the ball and the ball not moving. I don't think I played a good shot after that and the pain just got worse. I walked around the bulk of the rest of the course not playing and revived myself on the 18th for longest drive for a fiver (my idea). Obviously I did not win and had already lost money on the putting green.

3 days later and I'm still in pain, strapped up and typing. Not exactly the best way to get my wrist better but hey.

Today's blog is brought to you by the letter A. Budgetary cuts means that we were unable to bring you the rest of the program and no special guests are appearing on today's show. We now return you to your regular broadcast. Be well Lt Lenina Huxley.

People in the UK please get back to work. Those in Germany, have a glass of champagne for me.
