So there I was over the weekend, laid on my back, as happy as Larry and being really dirty.
Yes, the weather was warm enough that I could get out of the house and underneath the midlife crisis car (http://www.gillott.co.uk/matra). Last seen out of its cover the first week of December, the car was a tad dirty courtesy of a good long drive round the country lanes of rural Kent and had not seen the light of day since.
One box of tools, one mate and 90 minutes later and the brake calipers were not longer attached to the car. One side stripped, the other complete just in case the memory fails me. One tub of Hyperclean, a wire wheel, a wire brush, a paint brush, a couple of spanners and some brake fluid later and hopefully by the weekend it will be ready for rebuilding and I can start on the other side.
The plan is to finish the brakes, test the car thoroughly as soon as possible and take her to Cambridge at the end of the month.
Maybe I should set a more realistic target and plan to finish cleaning the first caliper by Christmas and not specify which one?
